St. LOUIS -- The Missouri Valley Conference has finalized its 2015-16 women's basketball schedule, it was announced Tuesday (Sept. 8), completing Missouri State's slate for the upcoming season.
The Lady Bears will play at total of 16 games against 13 teams that participated in a postseason tournament in 2014-15, with 20 of the team's 30 scheduled contests against clubs that posted a winning record last year with the potential to add another such opponent during the Gulf Coast Showcase in Florida.
The Lady Bears open league play on New Year's Day at Illinois State, and play five road games in January, including Indiana State (Jan. 3), Bradley (Jan. 15), Loyola (Jan. 17) and Wichita State (Jan. 31). The remainder of the MVC road schedule features games at UNI (Feb. 5), Drake (Feb. 7), Southern Illinois (Feb. 19) and Evansville (Feb. 21). The MVC Tournament is set for March 10-13 at iWireless Center in Moline, Ill.
Missouri State plays January home league games against Drake (Jan. 8), UNI (Jan. 10), Evansville (Jan. 22) and Southern Illinois (Jan. 24). The Lady Bears then play five of their final seven league contests at JQH Arena, hosting Loyola (Feb. 12), Bradley (Feb. 14), Wichita State (Feb. 26) and Indiana State (March 3), before playing Illinois State in the March 5 finale.
The Lady Bears open the 2015-16 campaign Nov. 13 by hosting Missouri at JQH Arena, the first of as many as 11 non-conference games against postseason clubs from a season ago. MSU plays additional home games against MidAmerica Nazarene (Nov. 17), Oklahoma State (Nov. 23), Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 5) and Oral Roberts (Dec. 12)
Missouri State will participate in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla., Nov. 27-29, facing Stanford in the first round and either Dayton or Maine on Nov. 28. MSU's third-round opponent will come from the side of the bracket that includes Louisville, LSU, Marist and Purdue.
The remainder of the pre-MVC road schedule includes visits to Ole Miss (Nov. 19), Arkansas (Dec. 2), Middle Tennessee (Dec. 17) and Little Rock (Dec. 20).
Missouri State's exhibition schedule features home games against Lyon (Nov. 2) and Quincy (Nov. 8).
