SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State men's soccer team (0-1-1) will continue its season Tuesday at UMKC (1-1-0) with a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreational Field in Kansas City.

The last meeting between MSU and UMKC saw the Bears gain an early lead in the match by scoring in the 10th minute. UMKC retaliated by scoring a goal of their own. The Bears were able to answer again in the 25th minute when Mikey Lightbourne was able to find teammate Brandon Barbero open inside the box, putting the Bears ahead 2-1. UMKC forced the match into double overtime after scoring for the second time in the 35th minute, posting a final score of 2-2 at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium last September.

Missouri State leads the series 17-4-1, while posting a 6-3 record on the road. The last time the Bears were at UMKC was in 2012, capturing a 3-0 win over the Kangaroos. Now senior, Jon Boyack, was able to contribute to the win by scoring the third goal for the Bears with seconds left in the first half.

"We have made some adjustments in practice this week leading up to this match," said head coach Jon Leamy. "We are ready to see it unfold against a tough UMKC team that we have enjoyed playing over the years."

The Bears will return home Friday (Sept. 11) to play Saint Mary's at 7 p.m. The game will be featured on Bears All-Access with live stats on GameTracker, both exclusively on MissouriStateBears.com. The night has been dubbed an "America Night." Fans are encouraged to wear their red, white, and blue as we remember and honor those who were affected by Sept. 11, 2001. Admission is free for first responders and military personnel, as well as MSU students with a valid I.D. and children ages 12 and under. Admission for MSU faculty and staff is $2 and tickets for all other adults are $5.
