SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Missouri State women's soccer team (1-1-0) begins the longest home stand of the season when the UMKC Kangaroos (2-0-0) visit Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium on Friday evening. The 7:00 p.m. tilt is being dubbed a "White Out" and the team will be signing posters after the match.

"After having split on the road in a very demanding trip, I feel like we have learned a lot about ourselves and am looking forward to playing at home," said head coach Rob Brewer. "It is a great chance to be at home and compete in front of our fans with a demanding groups of teams coming in. We know it's not going to be easy, but we are looking forward to the challenge."

Senior Alix Opfer scored two goals in the Bears' season-opening win at Idaho State last Friday. It was the first time since 2006 (Caroline Sweeney) that an MSU player tallied multiple goals in the opening match of a season. Opfer enters this weekend tied atop the league leaderboard with two goals and four points.

Freshman Brooke Prondzinski poured in four goals in the Bears' three preseason matches. She assisted on Opfer's first goal at Idaho State. Although she has been held without a goal through the first two regular season matches, Prondzinski leads all Valley players with nine shots taken this year.

Missouri State won its home opener last season, a 2-0 victory over Utah State in the inaugural match at Allison South Stadium. The win moved the Bears to 12-6-1 all-time in home opening matches. In 2014, the Bears went 6-2-1 at Allison South Stadium. MSU and UMKC have squared off on six prior occasions with the Bears holding a 5-1-0 record and all six contests were decided by a one-goal margin.

Following Friday's home opener, the home stand continues Sept. 4 against Tulsa and concludes on Sept. 9 versus Oral Roberts with both matches beginning at 7:00 p.m.
