Box Score

LOGAN, Utah - The Missouri State women's soccer team (1-1-0) had to battle poor air quality, play at elevation and face a Utah State team looking to avenge a loss to the Bears last season. The result was 3-0 loss to the Aggies (2-0-0) in the finale of the season-opening trip out west on Sunday afternoon. All three Aggie goals were scored late in the second half.

The Bears battled a feisty USU team to a scoreless halftime score. Both teams had three shots in the first 45 minutes, but MSU caught the Aggies offside on three different runs. Starting goalkeeper Jessica Perry made three saves in the first half.

Utah State ramped up the attack in the second half. Three more offside calls and four early corner kicks cranked up the pressure. In the 72nd minute off of a fast restart, the Aggies found the back of the net.

MSU turned the pressure up on offense and in the 76th minute freshman Brooke Prondzinski hit the post in an attempt to tie the match. Utah State countered with another tally in the 78th minute to put the match out of reach.

In the final minutes, Missouri State kept throwing numbers forward, but a Utah State counter attack netted a third goal in the 89th minute.

Prondzinski led the Bears with four shots. Seniors Cassie Le and Erin Stewart accounted for one each as MSU was out-shot 13-6.

The Bears return the Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium to begin a three-game home stand with the regular season home opener on Friday, August 28 versus UMKC at 7:00 p.m. The match versus the Kangaroos has been dubbed a "White Out".
