| Final Round Pairings
JACKSON, Tenn. - Senior Mark Karlsen and freshman Brad Carpenter are tied for 17th overall at 2-over par after two rounds to lead the Missouri State men's golf team at the Grover Page Classic on Monday.
The Bears are seventh in a 12-team field at the Jackson Country Club, shooting a 12-over 588 on the 6,783-yard, par-72 course.
"The golf course and conditions were conducive to low scores today and we just did not take advantage of that opportunity," Missouri State head coach Neal Stafford said. "We showed some consistent scoring but no one was able to break loose and post a low round. I was proud of the guys' composure and hopefully we can make a move up the leader board in the final round tomorrow."
Carpenter shot consecutive rounds of 73 to set a career-best mark, while Karlsen was 1-under in the second round following an opening-round 75.
Junior Joey Johnson shot a season-low-tying 71 of his own in his first round, to sit in an eighth-place tie after 18 holes, but fell to a tie for 23rd after a 4-over 76 in the second round.
Junior Mitch Mather carded a 150 in his first outing of the spring season with a 76 and 74 to be in a tie for 36th overall.
Junior Brik Brauburger went 76-75 on his day for a 7-over 151 to tie for 43rd. Freshman Brian Rogers, playing as an individual, is 16-over at 160. He is 13th out of 18 individuals heading into the final round.
Missouri State is seven strokes behind sixth-place Southern Illinois and 12 in back of co-leaders Tennessee Martin and Tennessee Tech (even-par 576). Eastern Kentucky is three shots off the pace (3-over 579). Lee University and Murray State are tied for fourth at 4-over 580.
UT Martin's Brendon Caballero, Eastern Kentucky's Taylor Riggs and Murray State's Jordan Smith share the individual lead after 36 holes at 3-under par 141. The final round is set for an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start on Tuesday.
