Missouri State Opens Arkansas Spring Invitational with Hammer Throw

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Arkansas Spring Invitational began with just one event on Friday night on the women's side. The hammer throw featured eight athletes, five of whom competed for Missouri State.

Melanie Raterman earned the second place finish with her 45.59m best mark. She trailed only event champion Janeah Stewart out of Iowa Central CC.

Jillian Bertz (37.41m), Mirissa Massey (34.91m), and Brittany McPike (32.15m) finished third, fourth, and fifth, respectively in their first collegiate outdoor meets.

Antonea Carson did not record a distance.

The remainder of the Arkansas Spring Invitational will continue at John McDonnell Field on Saturday morning with the discus at 10 a.m. The complete meet schedule is available at the link above.
