SPRINGFIELD -- Led by 25 points and 10 rebounds from senior Tyonna Snow, the Missouri State Lady Bears (5-4) used a balanced offensive attack Saturday evening to earn an 87-63 victory over Eastern Kentucky (4-2) at JQH Arena.
Snow shot 10-for-15 overall while adding four steals, three blocks and two assists, while all 11 Lady Bears who saw playing time scored, with five players tallying at least eight points in MSU's third consecutive victory.
Missouri State erased a 6-0 deficit to open the game and did not trail for the final 36-plus minutes, taking the lead for good on one of three Lexi Hughes 3-pointers with 3:12 to play in the first quarter during a 10-0 run that resulted in a 21-15 advantage on a pair of Kenzie Williams free throws with 1:48 to go.
The Lady Bears extended their run to 20-5 after Liza Fruendt's trey made it 31-20 with 7:43 left before the half, and the Colonels got no closer than eight points before intermission as Williams buried a 3-pointers with 32 seconds left for the 43-31 halftime margin.
Fruendt scored five minutes into the second half for a 52-38 lead before Eastern Kentucky rattled off a 6-0 run to close to 52-44 with 3:28 to play. Onye Osemenam countered with four straight points for the Lady Bears, and MSU led by at least nine points for the remainder of the contest.
Snow needed only 1:42 of game time to rattle off 10 quick points for a 73-53 lead, and Williams followed with her 139th career long ball to tie for seventh in school history and give MSU a 76-56 advantage.
MSU's lead got to as many as 25 points as the Lady Bears finished the game 31-of-69 (.449) from the field. EKU shot 41 percent overall and 3-for-17 from beyond the arc. Missouri State owned a 47-35 rebounding margin, scored 44 points in the paint, scored 22 points off 19 offensive rebounds, and dished out 18 assists compared to 12 turnovers.
The Lady Bears return to action next Saturday at 7 p.m. against Oral Roberts at JQH Arena.
