Oct. 4, 2015

Box Score

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Missouri State women's soccer team (7-4-1, 1-1-0) conceded three first half goals and were unable to take advantage of a short-handed Loyola squad in the second half in a 3-0 loss to the Ramblers (6-4-3, 1-1-1) in Chicago on Sunday afternoon.

A turnover at the top of their own box saw the Bears fall behind 1-0 in the 26th minute. A pair of Ramblers overlapped on the back post to set up the first goal of the match.

The MSU deficit doubled in the 34th minute. Loyola converted its first corner of the match into a near post header goal to make it a 2-0 score.

Loyola found a third first-half goal in the 43rd minute of play. Action up the left side of the field found a Rambler in behind the Bears' back line for a one-on-one with the MSU keeper.

A break came the Bears way in the 53rd minute as Loyola was assessed a red card and gave MSU a player advantage for the remainder of the match. In the 62nd minute, Missouri State nearly broke through. Ashley Tallerine sent a long floating shot from 30-plus yards that rang off the cross bar, but stayed out.

Freshman Brooke Prondzinski regained the outright MVC lead in shots taken with two giving her 41 for the season. Senior Alix Opfer and sophomore Brooke Zimmerman each added two shots as the Bears edged the Ramblers in shots 12-11.

MSU will travel to Indiana State for a 12:00 p.m. CT kickoff on Saturday (Oct. 10) before returning home against Illinois State on October 17 at 6:00 p.m. The match versus the Redbirds begins the final home stand of the season for the Bears.
