EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Missouri State men's soccer team (5-5-3, 2-2-1 MVC) captured its second conference win over the Purples Aces (2-12, 0-5 MVC) by posting a final score of 4-2 in its final conference road match of the season. The Bears are now tied for fourth with Loyola in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Four different Bears scored in tonight's game - Jake Buckle, James Routledge, Mikey Lightbourne, and James Thomas - making that the most goals scored in a match this season.

The first goal came in the 35th minute when Buckle was able to find the lower right corner of the net from six yards out. The last time Buckle scored in a match was against No. 18 Loyola Marymount (Sept. 20) when he tallied two goals, becoming the first Bear to do so since Jack Roberts (2013). Buckle leads MSU this season in goals with three.

Routledge fired a shot from 20 yards out in the 39th minute finding the top left corner of the net. Routledge's goal was the second of the night and second for him on the season.

The Purple Aces charged the MSU defense in the second half drawing a foul inside the box, forcing a penalty kick. Evansville's Mark Gonzalez took the kick and was able to get it past MSU's goalkeeper Liam Priestley in the 47th minute. Gonzalez scored the final goal of the match in the 87th minute.

MSU's Mikey Lightborne was able to record his first goal of the season after kicking the ball into the top right corner of the net in the 75th minute. Teammate James Thomas joined Lightbourne in recording his first goal of the season off of a penalty kick taken in the 84th minute of the match.

The Bears will wrap-up their non-conference schedule next week with road games at Nebraska Omaha (Oct. 28) and Oral Roberts (Nov. 2) before coming home for their final match of the regular season against Central Arkansas (Nov. 7) at 7 p.m.
