SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State men's soccer team (3-3-2, 1-0 MVC) will play Drake (6-2-0, 1-0 MVC) in its second conference match of the season Saturday (Oct. 3) at 7 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa. MSU and Drake are currently tied for first in the MVC with Bradley.

This match will be the third in one week for the Bears after capturing a thrilling overtime 1-0 win last Saturday against conference foe SIU Edwardsville and falling 4-0 to top-ranked Creighton on Tuesday.

Head coach Jon Leamy is anxious to continue conference play against a top competitor in the MVC.

"Saturday's match won't be easy," said Leamy. "It will be a hard-fought match until the last buzzer sounds. We are ready to get back into conference play against a well-coached Drake team."

Last season, MSU was able to net two goals giving the Bears a 2-0 shutout win over Drake in Springfield. The Bears are currently tied for 21st in the nation in shutout percentage (0.50) and 47th among all Division I programs in goals against average (0.92).

The Bears return to Springfield next week for a two-game home stand against Eastern Illinois (Oct. 6) and Loyola (Oct. 10) at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium.
