The article focuses on Youth Academies and the opportunities for players who do not get professional contract offers by the time they must transition out of youth competition. American universities, like Missouri State, become an opportunity for these soccer players to continue their playing careers.

Coach Michael Seabolt, instrumental in the recruitment efforts of many international student-athletes, is quoted in the story. Men's soccer signee Liam Priestley is the example the article uses of an acedemy player coming to the United States to play.
