DES MOINES, Iowa - The Missouri State women's soccer team (5-8-2, 1-2-1) found themselves in an early hole and fell 3-0 to Drake (7-7-2, 1-1-2) in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday night.
"We were really unlucky tonight," said head coach Rob Brewer. "The ball just wasn't bouncing our way. We created a lot of good chances, just weren't able to finish. I am proud of the way this team battled all the way to the end."
Drake found the back of the net in the seventh minute to take an early lead. The Bulldogs added another goal on Rebecca Rodgers' second of the match.
At the half, MSU was out-shooting DU by a 9-7 count and had forced the Bulldog goalkeeper to make six saves.
The Bulldogs concluded the scoring with a tally in the 76th minute to make it a 3-0 final.
Freshman Mary Disidore recorded a team-high six shots for the Bears. Molly Brewer added five shots, four on net. Molly Huber placed all four of her shots on frame.
Junior goalkeeper Laura Ketzer made eight saves. Drake's keeper Kylynn Moyer saved all 14 shots that the Bears put on goal.
The Bears will play their home finale next Saturday (Oct. 25) at 1:00 p.m. at Allison South. The match will mark the Ramblers' first-ever trip to Springfield and will be Senior Day for MSU.
