Missouri State sprinter Althia Maximilien ranks 25th in the nation in the 400-meter dash according to this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings. The Bears track and field squad overall comes in at 14th in the Midwest Region this week.
Maximilien sprinted to her personal best time of 53.36 at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. The Bridgetown, Barbados native finished as the second highest collegiate performer on Saturday (April 21) in the event. Maximilien's time also moved her up one spot to third on the MSU All-Time Best Performers list and ranks first on the Valley's Best list this week. The Bears' sprinter is third in the event in the Midwest Region.
The Bears' 4x100-meter relay squad can also be found in the top 50 national rankings. The relay team, consisting of Alyx Dull, Pernell Joseph, Kimsue Grant, and Merica Moncherry, ran the event in 45.66, ranking them as the 49th fastest time in the nation and the fifth fastest time in the Midwest Region.
Also represented in the regional rankings, Kimsue Grant is sixth in the triple jump with her leap of 41-03.75. Maximilien and Joseph come in at sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 200-meter dash regional rankings.
