Track and Field Bears Rank Tenth in Midwest Region

The Missouri State track and field squad is ranked tenth in the NCAA Division I Midwest Region in the latest USTFCCCA standings. The Bears rank in the top eight regionally in six different events.

Althia Maximilien is currently fourth in the region in the 400-meter dash with her personal best performance of 54.63 at the 2012 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships (Feb. 26). Maximilien's time ranks her 29th in the nation in the event. Kimsue Grant is ranked in the top eight regionally in two events. Grant is fifth in the long jump (19-11.00) and sixth in the triple jump (40-09.75). Both marks were personal best performances from the conference championships, with her long jump mark earning her the Valley title.

Shantel Llewellyn is fifth regionally in the 200-meter dash with her personal best and Valley title winning time of 24.53. Pernell Joseph is ranked eighth in the 60-meter dash with her MVC preliminary time of 7.51 seconds. Finally, the Bears 4x400-meter relay team (Kara Graham, Merica Moncherry, Llewellyn and Maximilien) rank eighth with a time of 3:45.52.

MSU (113.24) is less than seven points behind the ninth place squad in the region Illinois State (120.02).
