Missouri State junior Daily Young captured his second consecutive medalist honor Tuesday (Sept. 20) at the Kansas Invitational, tying with two other players for the top spot.

Young fired a two-under-par 70 in the final round at Alvamar Golf Club in Lawrence, Kan., after a pair of 72's Monday to post a 54-hole total of 214. Chris Weninger of Louisiana-Lafayette and David Smith of South Dakota State also had 214 totals. There was no playoff and the three were declared tri-medalists.

The Bears placed third in the team race, shooting 292-292-294--878, four behind champion UMKC. The Kangaroos rallied on the final day and notched 295-295-284--874, two better than Louisiana-Lafayette, which recorded 297-284-295--876.

Cal State Fullerton finished fourth with 883, followed by Kansas (884), Western Illinois and South Dakota State (902), North Dakota (906), Western Kentucky (908), Oral Roberts (910), Drake (912) and Nebraska (919).

For MSU, senior Jordan McLaurin posted his second top-10 finish in as many tournaments, placing seventh after firing 73-74-71--218. Senior Will Hogan and sophomore Nick Langley tied for 26th with 225 totals; Hogan shot 76-74-75 while Langley had 74-72-79--225. Sophomore Eric Straub shot 73-76-68--227 and tied for 31st.

The Bears are off next week, but return to action Oct. 1-2 at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Ill.
