The Missouri State men's golf team shot an even-par 288 Sunday (Mar. 6) to move up two spots and finish ninth at the South Florida Invitational in Dade City, Fla. The Bears finished the tournament with 291-297-288--876 in their second tournament of the spring.
Senior Jack Courington led the way for MSU with a final-round 69 at Lake Jovita Country Club and tied for 27th with 75-74-69--218. Sophomore Daily Young tied for 30th after posting 71-73-75--219 while junior Will Hogan had 76-74-70--220 to tie for 35th. Next for MSU came freshman Nick Langley, who carded 72-79-74--225 to tie for 57th, and junior Jordan McLaurin with 73-76-80--229 and a tie for 76th.
Middle Tennessee State ran away with the team and individual titles. The Blue Raiders carded 274-277-287--838 to easily outdistance runner-up Florida State and its 296-278-283--857. Florida Gulf Coast was third with 864, followed by North Texas and Arkansas State (867), Central Florida (869), Troy (871), Villanova (872), the Bears, and Eastern Michigan (878) rounding out the top 10 in the 21-team field. Medalist honors went to MTSU's Hunter Green, who was a wire-to-wire winner after firing 67-67-71--205.
The Bears' next action is the Louisiana Tech Bulldog Classic next Monday-Tuesday (Mar. 14-15) in Choudrant, La.
