Women's Golf Off to Slow Start at Alamo Invitational

The Missouri State women's golf team shot 306 on Sunday (Oct. 29) and is in 13th place after the first day of the Alamo Invitational. The tournament, which features five teams ranked in the 50 nationally, is being contested over three days at the par 72, 6272-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Course just outside San Antonio, Texas.

Senior Kelsey Welber and freshman Megan Thompson led the way for MSU in the first round, shooting four-over-par 76. Senior Catherine Dolan and junior Hermine Greyling posted 77, and junior Emma Clegg had 84. The first round co-leaders are Fabiola Arriaga of Texas-San Antonio and Monifa Sealy of Central, Florida, who each carded 69.

TCU has the team lead with an even-par 288 total, two better than Kentucky's 290 and five ahead of Texas-San Antonio and Baylor at 293. Nebraska and Central Florida are tied for fifth with 294, followed by Texas Tech (297), Texas A&M and Texas State (298), Minnesota and New Mexico State (301), Kennesaw State (304), the Bears and SMU (309).

Monday's second round begins with tee times at 8:30, while the Bears' first time is at 9:18 a.m. Tuesday's final round is slated for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
