Young Leads, Men's Golf in Contention at Fall Finale

The Missouri State men's golf team sits four strokes out of first while the Bears' Daily Young has the individual lead entering the final round of the SIUE Intercollegiate in Edwardsville, Ill.

Young, a junior from Springfield, fired 73-69--142, two under par, and is in search of his third victory of the fall. He holds a one-shot edge over Mitchell Homb of SIU Edwardsville.

As a team, MSU led after the first round with 291, but slipped to 298 in the afternoon for a 589 total. SIUE leads entering the final day after posting 292-293--595, three better than Evansville at 588. The Bears are third, followed by Eastern Illinois (603), Wright State (611), Southern Illinois (613), Bradley (621), North Dakota (626), Nebraska-Omaha (639), South Dakota (640) and Chicago State (713).

Senior Will Hogan is second for the Bears and tied for fifth overall after shooting 70-75--145, while sophomore Nick Langley is tied for 14th at 73-77--150. Senior Jordan McLaurin shot 75-77--152 and senior Mark Hogan had 87-85--172 to tie for 20th and 56th, respectively.

Tuesday's final round is slated for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at Sunset Hills Country Club.
