OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Missouri State sits one stroke out of second place headed into the final 18 holes of the Bill Ross Intercollegiate men's golf meet here, hosted by UMKC.
The Bears shaved four strokes off their opening-round 297 during Monday's afternoon round to move into a third-place tie and match the host Kangaroos' score of 590 in the 11-team field. Central Arkansas (559) has a commanding 30-stroke lead over the rest of the field with one round remaining, while Arkansas State (589) is second and Illinois State is fifth (591).
Will Hogan leads all MSU individuals, currently tied for seventh place with a two-round total of 145. Nick Langley (149) and Daily Young (150) also rank in the top 25 of the 70-man field after 36 holes. Hogan is 14 strokes behind tournament leader Pep Angles of Central Arkansas (131).
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes in MSU's second-to-last meet of the fall season. Coach Neal Stafford's squad wraps its fall season Oct. 24-25 at the SIU-Edwardsville Intercollegiate.
