Clubb Named Prairie Farms/MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Missouri State junior righthander Tim Clubb has been named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Clubb twirled a complete-game three-hitter in Friday’s 8-2 victory against Wichita State. The 2008 MVC Pitcher of the Year held the Shockers hitless for a seven-inning stretch from two outs in the second to two outs in the ninth, and faced the minimum three hitters in five separate innings.

Clubb has pitched at least eight innings in his last five starts and leads the MVC with 65 innings pitched. His win Friday moved him to fifth in Missouri State history with 21 career victories.

Clubb, who was a three-time recipient of the award in 2008 and a member of the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team, carries a 3.31 GPA in advertising and promotions.

To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.  In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
