Vestal and Vest Compete at Stanford Invitational

Missouri State’s Carrie Vestal and Jamie Vest competed in one of the most competitive regular season meets for distance runners, the Stanford Invitational, April 4-5 in Palo Alto, Calif. Vestal and Vest both turned in solid performances for the Bears as they competed among top athletes from all major conferences in the NCAA.

Vestal shaved 20 seconds off her personal best time to record an 11th-place finish in the 10,000 meters with a time of 35:09.15. Her time in the event is the fastest time ran by a Missouri Valley Conference runner since 2005 and also moves her into the number two position on the MSU all-time top performers list.

Vest recorded the fastest time in the MVC this season with a 15th place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Her time of 10:48.23 is a NCAA regional qualifying performance and qualifies her for the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship.

Vestal, Vest and the rest of the MSU track and field team will be back in action April 17-19 when they travel to Lawrence, Kans. to compete in the Kansas Relays.
