The Missouri State track and field team concluded the Drake Relays Saturday, April 26 in Des Moines, Iowa, with two top-ten finishes and a NCAA regional qualifying time.
MSU’s Jamie Vest finished 11th in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a season-best time of 10:45.08. This is the second occasion this season that Vest has surpassed the regional qualifying mark in the event.
Sophomore Leander Ernest turned in another great performance with a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.63.
In the 4x1600 relay, distance specialists Emily Fletcher, Terry Phillips, Asher Kyger and Carrie Vestal teamed for a time of 20:21.79 to finish 8th.
On Friday, April 25 the Bears competed in the Simpson Twilight in Indianola, Iowa. Renna Berry captured a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.84 and Rashida Allen claimed eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.72.
Staci Nelson took fifth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:51.55. The Goffe sisters tied for sixth in the high jump competition with a mark of 4-11.75.
The Missouri State track and field team will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Arkansas Twilight on Friday, May 2.
