The Missouri State women's golf team shot 315 in Sunday's (Mar. 9) final round of the Rio Verde Invitational to slip to 11th place in its second tournament of the spring season. The Bears finished the tournament with a 924 total on rounds of 311-299-315 at the Quail Creek course at the Rio Verde (Ariz.) Country Club.
Twentieth-ranked Notre Dame cruised to the team title after firing 294-290-291--875, outdistancing runnerup Texas Tech, which shot 893. Minnesota (894) was third, followed by Arkansas-Little Rock (908) and Eastern Michigan (909) rounding out the top five in the 18-team tournament.
Senior Missy Linnens led MSU, carding 81-71-77--229 to tie for 24th place. Jillian Anthony was second for the Bears and 42nd overall after posting 76-75-83--234, while Lyndsey Adams tied for 47th with 77-77-81--235. Stacey Rodger shot 80-76-80--236 to tie for 54th along with teammate Amy Phalajivin, who had 78-82-76--236. Lindsey Wellenstein carded 87-78-82--247. Medalist honors went to So-Hyun Park of Notre Dame as she fired 72-70-70--212.
The Bears are back in action Mar. 17-18 at the Samford Intercollegiate in Oneonta, Ala.
