The Missouri State men's golf team finished seventh of 10 teams in its second tournament of the spring season Tuesday (Mar. 20), the Diablo Grande Intercollegiate in Patterson, Calif. The Bears dropped two spots on the final day after shooting 317 to go with 299-305 the first day for a 921 total. Junior Damaso Carrera was the top finisher for the Bears after shooting 74-72-77--223 to tie for ninth place.
Sacramento State won the team title, posting 298-295-292--885 in three trips around the Diablo Grande Resort, six better than runnerup Cal State Bakersfield. Sonoma State took third after shooting 901.
Sacramento State also had the top two individual finishers with medalist Scott DeBarba firing 74-74-68--216, two ahead of teammate Grant Norton's 70-75-73--218.
Freshman Scott Glenn of MSU tied for 25th with 74-78-80--232, while classmate Jay McBride took 32nd with 74-78-82--234. Senior Matt Sullivan recorded 77-81-78--236 to place 36th and junior John Cronly tied for 50th with 85-77-84--246.
The Bears are back in action Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 26-27) at the UALR/First Tee Intercollegiate in Little Rock, Ark.
