Missouri State's Missy Linnens has been named Golfer of the Week by the Missouri Valley Conference for the second time this season and fifth time in her career after a top 10 finish in Daytona Beach, Fla., last weekend (Oct. 13-14). Linnens finished eighth at the Xavier/LPGA International Invitational after shooting 73-74-77--224 at the prestigious LPGA International Champions Course, a par 72, 6225-yard Rees Jones design.
It was the third consecutive top 10 finish for the Bear senior, who finished her final fall campaign with a league-leading 74.25 scoring average. She led the Bears to a third-place finish at the tournament with team scores of 306-304-300--910, four shots behind champion Florida Atlantic and one behind runnerup Coastal Carolina. Linnens is a two-time all-conference performer and was tri-medalist at the 2006 MVC Championship.
After the winter layoff, Missouri State will open its spring season at the Cuthbert Cup in Kiawah Island, S.C., Feb. 24-26.
