Tracy Partain, a senior on the Missouri State women's track and field team, placed fifth in the heptathlon at the North America, Central America and Caribbean Championship on Sunday, July 9, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Partain tallied a score of 4,678 to finish one spot behind the NCAA outdoor heptathlon champion, Jacquelyn Johnson, who totaled 4,739 points. Juana Castillo of the Dominican Republic, won the event with 4,942 points.
Five hundred athletes from 28 countries competed in the fourth edition of the championships. The NACAC Athletic Association’s U23 Championships are held every two years in one of the 32 member nations of the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association, one of six regional athletics associations affiliated with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
