Partain Places ninth at USA Track and Field Championship

Tracy Partain, a senior on the Missouri State track and field team, finished ninth in the heptathlon with 5,476 points at the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. Unattached athlete GiGi Johnson won the event with 6,183 points.

Partain placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 18-06.50, to start Saturday's second day of competition. In the javelin throw, she marked a distance of 120-07, placing her 10th and ended the day with a 14th-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:24.44.

Two-time All-American Partain leaves Missouri State with the heptathlon record of 5,827 points that she set at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Championship.
