Kevin Born, a member of the Missouri State track and field squad, was named Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week of April 17-23, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced Thursday afternoon.
Born posted a fourth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:57.21 at the University of Kansas Relays on April 22. The Lone Jack, Mo., native has a cumulative 3.67 grade-point average and is majoring in math education.
The Bears' track and field teams will be represented at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday through Saturday, April 26-27, by six student-athletes. The remainder of the team will compete at the Missouri Southern Williams/Laptad Invitational in Joplin, Mo., on Friday, April 28. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
