The Missouri State track and field teams entered four student athletes in the 5,000-meter run at Thursday's Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The Bears turned in great performances as three posted career best marks.
Senior Ashley Sanders finished ninth in 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:59.43, marking a new season and career best. Carrie Vestal placed 16th in the event for the Bears and lowered her previous best mark of 17:41.03 to 17:13.42.
In the men's 5,000m race, Kevin Born ran a career best time of 14:33.82 to place 11th for Missouri State. Josephat Bitok finished 20th in the event in 15:26.76.
The remainder of the Missouri State track and field teams will compete at the Missouri Southern Williams/Laptad Invitational in Joplin, Mo., on Friday, April 28. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
