Men's golf signs Kansas high school standout

The Missouri State men's golf program has received a commitment from one of the top high school players in Kansas for the 2007-08 season.  Head coach Neal Stafford has announced the addition of Jack Courington of Wichita Southeast High School to the Bears' roster for next season.
Courington is coming off a junior year in which he posted a 72.9 scoring average, tied for 10th at the Class 6A state tournament and placed second in the regional last spring.  He won the Kansas Junior Golf Association Collegiate Preview this past summer, shooting 65-69--134 to win by 17 strokes.
Courington was the 2005 KJGA Match Play champion and won the Big I state qualifier and the KJGA South Central Sectional this year.  He also was medalist at the Wichita Golf Association Match Play and was a member of the Kansas-Nebraska Cup team for the second straight year.
“Jack is a fine young man who will fit in great with our current group of guys," said Stafford.  "He has already enjoyed a high level of success in the junior ranks and I expect him to do the same at the collegiate level.  I forsee Jack being a big factor in helping our program continue on in the right direction.”
The young Bears' squad, which has freshmen comprising half the roster, is coming off a promising fall season that saw it post top-five finishes in three events.
