Freshman goalkeeper Jackie Jasper earned Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for her 2-0 performance on the road to begin Valley play, not allowing a goal in 198:27 minutes in the net. Jasper claimed shutout victories in a 1-0 double overtime win at Indiana State Friday, and a 3-0 win at Evansville, Sunday, ending the Purple Aces' four-match winning streak and a stretch of 10 straight matches without at least one goal.
Friday, Jasper pulled in five saves and held the Sycamores scoreless for 108:27 minutes in goal. In Sunday's match with Evansville, the Aces outshot Missouri State 15-11, but Jasper's four saves, including one diving stop in each half, led the Bears to the 3-0 shutout victory.
Jasper is now 7-2-2 on the season and 2-0 in MVC play, with five shutouts and a 0.85 goals-against average this season.
Jasper and the Bears return home Saturday, after a stretch of four-straight road matches, continuing conference play against the University of Northern Iowa at noon.
