Second-team selection on the NFCA All-Midwest Region Team ... Also earned All-MVC second-team distinction, MVC Scholar-Athlete first-team honors and CoSIDA Academic All-District laurels ... Led the Bears in hits (58), batting average (.349), runs (25) and stolen bases (14) ... Also produced 10- (April 9-28) and 13-game (Feb. 18 to March 16) hitting streaks on the season ... Was 4-for-4 with three runs at Oklahoma State (March 16) in MSU’s upset of the NCAA Super Regional-bound Cowgirls ... Drove in three runs in win over Alabama State (March 11) ... Played in 42 games, starting on 38 occasions ... Hit .273 with a team-high 13 stolen bases to go with 22 runs scored and 10 RBI ... Hit safely, scored a run or both in each of the first six games of the year ... Went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in win over Northern Colorado (Feb. 14) ... Stole two bases at Western Kentucky (Feb. 20) ... Scored a run, stole a base and hit safely in each of the first two games of the Bradley series (March 25-26) ... Drew a walk, had a hit, drove in a run and scored twice in win at Arkansas (Mar. 29) ... Began a five-game hit streak with a double against Central Arkansas (April 6) ... Went 8-for-11 with four runs scored and a pair of RBI in the SIU series (April 9-10) to pick up MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors ... Had two hits and stole two bases at Tulsa (April 13) ... Went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored in game two versus Wichita State (April 20) ... Drove in a pair of runs and hit a double at Evansville (Apr. 29) ... Started 49 of the 53 games she appeared in ... Hit a team-best .361, the highest batting average by a freshman in program history, with 30 runs scored, 15 RBI and led MSU with 19 stolen bases -- second most in the MVC ... Scored a run in each of the first three games of the year with three hits and three stolen bases in that span (Feb. 6-7) ... Walked twice and drove in a run in win at Louisiana Tech (Feb. 8) ... Went 3-for-4 with a run scored against Penn State (Feb. 13) ... Had three hits and drew a pair of walks with two runs scored in doubleheader sweep of UMKC (March 11) ... Had a 2-for-3 outing with a stolen base in the series opener versus Drake (March 15) ... Had two hits in four-consecutive games from March 21 through March 28 scoring three runs and stealing three bases during the streak ... Went 3-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored and legged out first career triple against SEMO (March 31) to begin a 13-game hitting streak ... Had two or more hits in six-straight games from April 4 to April 15, scoring 10 times in those games ... Hit first career home run, a grand slam, in opener of Loyola series (April 11) ... Earned MVC Newcomer of the Week honors (April 13) after hitting .700 during the Loyola series ... Had six hits in UNI series (April 25-26) ... Velasquez Zimmer played four seasons for head coach Katie Krug at Coppell (Texas) High ... Was team captain her final two seasons with the Cowgirls ... Named to the all-district first team each of her four seasons at Coppell ... Earned team MVP honors all four seasons as well ... Was an academic all-district and all-state selection as a senior ... Also helped her Texas Glory competitive teams to top-three finishes twice, a runner-up finish with 16U Naudin in 2011 and a third-place finish with 18U in 2013.
