Pitched in 30 games as a sixth-year senior, good for sixth on MSU’s single season list, on which he also appears in the Nos. 3 and 8 spots...Missouri State’s career leader with 103 pitching appearances, 15 ahead of second place...Career appearance total ranks tied for eighth in conference history...Had a season-high seven of the Bears’ school-record-tying 19 strikeouts on March 10 versus SIUE...Struck out 63 batters in 52.1 innings his final year, posting a 4.64 ERA and .239 opponent average...From Feb. 28-March 18, had a 12.2 inning scoreless streak during which he allowed just three hits and struck out 19...Retired 17 consecutive hitters over four appearances from April 20-28...Went 4-4 with a save in 2023...Finished career with a 17-12 record and three saves, 199 strikeouts and a .254 opponent average in 191 innings pitched.

Background
Ziegenbein joined the Bears on the heels of a standout season with Johnson County (Kan.) Community College in which he logged 10 mound victories and a 2.64 earned run average to nab Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Freshman of the Year recognition...Struck out a school-record 109 hitters and limited opponents to a .228 batting average en route to earning All-KJCCC and NJCAA All-Region VI honors for a squad that peaked at No. 6 in the national rankings before finishing 46-12...Redshirted as a freshman at Johnson County while rehabbing from his second Tommy John surgery, which also sidelined the right-hander for his final two prep seasons at Blue Springs (Mo.) High School...Earned Academic All-State recognition in three consecutive seasons after picking up all-conference honors as a sophomore outfielder for the Wildcats.
