2016: Burger turned in one of the top all-around seasons in Missouri State history as a sophomore, narrowly missing out on winning the Missouri Valley Conference's Triple Crown by hitting .349 with 21 home runs--both good for second in the MVC--to go along with a league-leading 72 RBIs to become the Bears' fourth consensus All-American since 2012 ... Named a semifinalist for both the Dick Howser Trophy (NCBWA) and USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award ... Picked up second-team All-America laurels from Collegiate Baseball and third-team recognition from the ABCA, Baseball America and the NCBWA ... Also voted as the top defensive third baseman in all of Division I baseball with his selection to the ABCA's Rawlings Gold Glove Team ... Tabbed a first-team All-MVC pick and the league's defensive player of the year after committing just two errors in 138 defensive chances, good for a .986 fielding percentage at the hot corner ... Ranked second nationally in home runs--and sixth on the Bears' single-season chart--trailing only MSU teammate Spencer Johnson's 24 long balls ... Also rated fifth in all of Division I baseball in total bases (162), 12th in slugging (.689) and 25th in runs per game (1.05) ... Hit a three-run homer in the Bears' season-opener at Central Arkansas (Feb. 19), then belted two more long balls--including the game-winning two-run shot in the ninth inning in game two of the series ... Reached base in all five trips to the plate and scored three times in the finale at UCA to help lock up the three-game sweep for the Bears ... Drove in 15 runs in MSU's first seven games, including a career-best five RBIs in his 4-for-5 performance vs. Alcorn State (Feb. 27) ... Logged foru consecutive multi-hit games, Feb. 26-March 2, including a 3-for-6 effort in an 11-4 win at Austin Peay (Feb. 28) ... Hit a game-tying two-run homer in the eighth inning at Memphis (March 13), paving the way to a 7-4 come-from-behind victory as part of another three-game sweep ... Homered three times, recorded hits in eight-straight at-bats and reached safely in nine-consecutive plate appearances in the Bears' two-game sweep of Western Illinois (March 15-16); scored five times in the second game, becoming the first Bear to do so in 12 years ... Homered and drove in three runs as part of the Bears' rally from a 6-2 deficit for an eventual 8-6 win against Iowa (March 20) that completed a three-game sweep at Hammons Field ... Followed that effort with a five-RBI game against Arkansas State (March 22) in a 15-11 victory that extended the Bears' win streak to nine games ... Went 6-for-12 in a three-game set with Minnesota (March 25-26) ... Produced back-to-back three-RBI games in wins vs. Saint Louis (April 5) and Kansas (April 6), going 3-for-6 with a homer and four runs scored vs. the Jayhawks ... Launched a three-run homer as part of a 2-for-5 night in a 16-1 win over Missouri (April 12) ... Recorded a hit in a career-best 12-straight games, April 16-May 8, hitting .408 with five home runs during the hot streak ... Registered multiple hits in three-straight games, April 23-26, including a 3-for-5 night at Missouri (April 26) in which he homered and drove in three runs ... Also turned in a 3-for-5 game in a May 3 win over Arkansas, homering and tripling in the 14-6 victory ... Hit a pair of home runs to earn all-tournament team honors and help the Bears to a runner-up finish at the MVC Championship, going 2-for-5 in MSU's opening-round win over host Indiana State; followed that with another 2-for-5 day, in which he homered and drove in three runs for the second time in three days vs. the Sycamores (May 27) ... Earned a spot on USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team over the summer, becoming the seventh Bear to be selected to compete with Team USA; hit .271 and was one of just two squad members to start all 19 games of the club's summer tour.  

2015: Became just the third Missouri State freshman in the 52-year history of the program to be named an All-American with his selection as a 2015 Louisville Slugger third-teamer by Collegiate Baseball ... Totaled a team-high 78 hits — the second-highest total overall in the MVC and the top mark for a Valley freshman — and an MSU freshman record 22 doubles, while batting a club-best .342 and leading the Bears with a .518 slugging percentage ... Led the club with 25 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI outings in addition to logging four home runs and 42 RBIs ... Named a first-team All-MVC performer and the Valley’s Freshman of the Year ... Recorded two separate 16-game streaks of reaching base safely via a hit, walk or hit by pitch, including a stretch from April 15 through May 14 in which he recorded a hit in all but one contest and batted .403 (27-for-67) with 17 RBIs ... Paced the Bears with a .333 average during league play and hit .400 (34-for-85) at home ... Ranks fourth on the Bears’ single-season doubles list (and 20th nationally in 2015), just three behind Steve Meyer’s record total of 26 in 1986 ... Hit .417 (10-for-24) to lead the Bears during NCAA Regional and Super Regional action ... Recorded top 10 MSU freshman totals in hits (fourth), RBIs (fifth), runs scored (ninth) in addition to his Bears  rookie record for doubles ... Turned in a pair of two-hit games on opening weekend to help MSU sweep the SFA Tournament field (Feb. 13-15) ... Doubled four times to drive in a total of three runs in back-to-back games vs. Wright State (March 7) and Arkansas State (March 11) ... Produced two more two-hit efforts to help MSU open MVC play with a series win over Indiana State (March 20-22) ... Scored a season-high three runs and went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in MSU’s 15-9 win over Kansas (March 24) ... Logged four straight multi-hit games, April 3-10, driving in five runs while batting .500 (9-for-18)...Went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two more driven in in a 13-2 win at Evansville (April 10) ... Hit in nine straight games, April 15-28 ... Matched a season high with three RBIs in both MSU victories at Illinois State (April 24-26) to help kick off the Bears’ school-record 19-game win streak ... Double twice as part of a 3-for-5 game against Missouri (April 28), then went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs vs. Wichita State (May 2) ... Posted at least two hits in five consecutive outings, May 2-9, hitting .545 (12-for-22) with seven RBIs ... Missed most of MSU’s Vallley Tournament run, but bounced back to hit .417 with three runs scored in the Bears’ three NCAA Springfield Regional wins to earn all-tourney recognition ... Matched a career best with four hits, including a home run and a double, in MSU’s Super Regional opener at Arkansas (June 5) ... Was a consensus freshman All-America pick, earning honors from Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America and D1Baseball, while also garnering ABCA/Rawlings All-Midwest Region recognition ... Also honored for his work in the classroom with MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award and Honor Roll citations.

Background: Batted .440 with four homers and 25 RBIs as a prep senior at CBC High School en route to earning first-team all-metro honors from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and a PNC All-Star Game selection ... A preseason All-Central Region selection by Perfect Game USA, Burger batted .437 with a home run and 31 RBIs to earn honorable mention all-state recognition and second-team all-metro honors after helping CBC to a Missouri Class 5 runner-up finish as a junior ... A three-time All-Metro Catholic Conference honoree, Burger led the league with five triples and posted a .515 on-base percentage while slugging .690 for a 24-9 Cadet squad that finished second in Missouri Class in 2013 ... Named the No. 22 prospect in the state of Missouri by PBR and the No. 3 third baseman in the class by Perfect Game ... Played for the St. Louis Knights of the Metro Collegiate Baseball League over the summer.
