SPRINGFIELD – Jason Schaaf threw his second career shutout and Missouri State improved to 15-0 at Hammons Field Sunday afternoon by completing the series sweep of Sam Houston by a 12-0 score in seven innings.

Schaaf (1-1) retired the final 13 Bearkats he faced, struck out seven and allowed just four baserunners on a single, double and two walks, completing the Bears' first individual two-hit shutout since Nick Petree in 2013. The senior also threw a three-hit shutout at Belmont in 2024.

Mo State (21-9, 9-3 Conference USA) jumped on Sam Houston (14-17, 4-8) early with four runs in the first on RBI singles from Taeg Gollert, Curry Sutherland and Bobby Atkinson with a balk in between.

Logan Fyffe hit a leadoff double and scored on Brant Kragel's single in the second, one of his four runs on a 3-for-4 day at the plate, and the Bears put up a five-spot in the fourth on a Sutherland two-run double, Max Knight RBI fielder's choice and Atkinson two-run single.

Freshman Adyn Schell walked with the bases loaded in his first career plate appearance in the fifth, and Gollert added an RBI single in the sixth for the 12-0 final.

The Bears remain one of three teams nationally without a home loss, and the 15-game home winning streak ties for the second-longest in program history, with a 16-game streak from April 2015-March 2016 the only one longer.

The Bears begin a four-game road trip Tuesday at 6 p.m. when they visit in-state rival Missouri. The Tigers make the return trip to Hammons Field on April 15 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to all home games are available here.
