DALLAS – Missouri State softball's Emily Koranda was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week for the second time this season following her performance at Louisiana Tech, the league announced today (March 30).
 
Koranda went 1-1 on the weekend with a 0.62 ERA in the circle. She tossed one complete game, a combined shutout and struck out six in 11.1 innings of work. The Bulldogs hit just .186 against the freshman right-hander.
 
In her first appearance in the series on Saturday, Koranda hurled a great game despite coming up on the short end of a pitcher's duel in Ruston. She went the distance in the game, allowing just one earned run on four hits while striking out three Bulldogs. Koranda was right back in the circle on Sunday and earned her eighth win of the season. She pitched 5.1 scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and striking out three LA Tech batters.
 
The freshman out of Marion, Iowa, ranks second in CUSA this season with a 2.32 ERA and is tied for fourth in strikeouts with 75 on the year.
 
Missouri State returns home this week to start a five-game home stand, beginning with a midweek matchup against Missouri on Tuesday, March 31 at 5:00 p.m.
