STUNT Bears Go 2-2 in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Missouri State STUNT (12-10) beat Mercyhurst and McNeese State and lost to Hope International and California Baptist this weekend at a four-game event hosted by Trevecca Nazarene.

"It was great to beat Mercyhurst by a significant margin. That is the win we were looking for this weekend, so I am very proud of the team for showing up and getting it done. I was slightly disappointed in the performance of the games today, but we will continue to improve our levels and get ready for the next weekend," stated head coach Kennedy Wingbermuehle.

Missouri State STUNT is back on the mat on Friday, March. 27 for four games over two days in Lexington, Ky., to face the University of Southern California, Jessup (Calif.), UT Martin, and Maryville.

Game One

Missouri State 30, Mercyhurst 21
The Bears showed precision and poise in a hard-fought victory. In the first quarter of partner stunts the Bears earned five points to the Lakers' two. The pyramids and tosses were neck-and-neck with the Bears winning four points to three for Mercyhurst. Then the third quarter of jumps and tumbling brought the game to an even close contention, with both teams earning five points. MoState then finished the game off with 16 points earned in the team routines, to the Lakers' 11.

Game Two
Hope International 30, Missouri State 14
The Royals started off strongly with four points won in the partner stunts, without conceding any. The Bears fought in the second quarter of pyramids and tosses, earning four points to the Royals' five. In the third quarter of jumps and tumbling, the Seahawks confirmed their lead, securing seven points to Missouri State's three. The Royals completed the meet with a dominant fourth quarter in the team routines with 14 points earned to the Bears' seven.

Game Three
California Baptist 24, Missouri State 0
The Lancers showcased a brilliant performance, not conceding a single point to the Bears. They earned a perfect four points across each of the first three quarters of partner stunts, pyramids and tosses, and jumps and tumbling. They capped off the game by earning another 12 points in the team routines.

Game Four
Missouri State 29, McNeese State 22
Missouri State earned a competitively contested victory over the Cowgirls. The Bears opened the first quarter of partner stunts earning five points to the Cowgirls' three. In the pyramids and tosses, the Bears held onto the lead, with both teams being awarded three points. The Bears kept their nose in front of the Cowgirls in the third quarter winning six points in the jumps and tumbling, to the Cowgirls' five. Missouri State then finished the game and the weekend with a strong showing in the team routines earning them 15 points to 11 for the Cowgirls.
