AZUSA, Calif. - Missouri State acrobatics and tumbling recorded a program-best score for the second time this season Thursday night, falling 247.855 - 258.500 at Azusa Pacific.
The total surpasses the previous program record set earlier this year and continues an upward trend against ranked opponents late in the season.
The meet opened with one of the most complete compulsory performances of the year, as scores of 9.700 in pyramid and 9.750 in toss helped produce a 35.600 and keep things tight early.
Momentum carried into acro with a 9.850 in the five-element heat, one of the top marks of the meet, before closing at 25.200.
Pyramid again proved to be a strength, as three controlled heats, capped by a 9.900 in the open heat, pushed the total to 29.200 and kept pace with Azusa Pacific heading into the half.
Toss added a 26.400, limiting separation through the middle portion of the meet.
In tumbling, multiple strong passes, including a 9.475 in the six-element pass and a 9.425 in the aerial pass, contributed to a 51.475 total.
A 79.980 in the team event secured the record-setting final score of 247.855.
The Bears remain on the road April 4 at No. 5 Augustana before returning home for senior day April 9 against Morgan State at Hammons Student Center.
