STUNT NCAA championship approval

NCAA Approves STUNT as Championship Sport

January 16, 2026

NCAA Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - STUNT has officially been approved as an NCAA championship sport following a vote by NCAA membership at the 2026 NCAA Convention, marking a major milestone for Missouri State STUNT and women's collegiate athletics nationwide.

The first NCAA STUNT championship is projected for spring 2027 and will feature a National Collegiate Championship in which student-athletes from all three divisions compete for a single national title.

STUNT experienced rapid growth after joining the NCAA Emerging Sports for Women program, surpassing the NCAA's required threshold of 40 varsity-sponsoring institutions across all divisions. The sport joined the program in 2023 for Divisions I and II, with Division III adding it in 2024.

The NCAA's decision ushers in a new era of opportunity and championship-level competition for Missouri State STUNT as the program looks ahead to competing on the national stage.
