SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Senior
Kiser Pannier fired a two-round total of five under par on Monday's (Sept. 8) first day of the season opener to lead the Missouri State women's golf team to a 12-shot lead entering the final round of the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial. Pannier opened with a 69 in the morning round and followed with a career-best 68 in the afternoon for a 137 total and a two-stroke lead over Odessa's Napajira Nami Luesattha.
As a team, the Bears posted 287-288--575 to lead by a dozen over defending tournament champion Omaha (587) entering Tuesday's final round at Twin Oaks Country Club. Wichita State is third with 591, while Creighton (593) and Memphis (594) round out the top five in the 11-team field.
Freshman
Chloe Bolte is in solo fourth after shooting an even-par 142 in her first collegiate tournament on rounds of 71-71, while fellow freshman
Katelyn Wilkie is tied for ninth after carding 72-75--147 in her debut. Juniors
Tierney Baumstark and
Kyleigh Pfitzner are tied for 20th after posting 151 totals; Baumstark rattled off four straight birdies on the back nine of her second round to shoot 73 after opening with 78, while Pfitzner shot 75-76. Junior
Coyee Zhang is a shot back in 26th after posting 72-80--152.Â
Sophomore
Siena Minor is tied for 38th after shooting 82-73--155 and sophomore
Marlee Edgeman had 82-79--161 and is tied for 51st.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
