SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State cross country produced another dominant performance on Saturday morning, claiming the team title at the Queen City Invitational with five Bears placing inside the top 10. The squad's depth and consistency carried them to a strong team win, finishing with just 29 points on their home course.
The Bears set the tone early, holding the lead for much of the race before closing strong down the stretch.
Ella Cronhardt paced the team with a third-place finish, clocking a time of 17:55. She was followed by a tight pack of teammates, led by
Madilyn Moore in fifth at 18:04 and
Ella Rew right behind her in sixth at 18:05.
Rounding out Missouri State's scoring lineup were
Elsa Henry in eighth (18:12) and
Amy Gotfredson in ninth (18:15). The Bears' ability to pack five runners inside the top 10 proved decisive, putting the team out of reach for the rest of the field.
""It was a great team race this morning, and the team executed their race plans really well," head coach
Jordan Fife said. "It was a great atmosphere this morning, and it was great to run at home with so much support from the administration and campus."
Missouri State will return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
