Bears STUNT Earns First Division I Win at UCA

March 08, 2025

CONWAY, Ark. - Missouri State STUNT (5-11, 1-1 Mid America West) overcame its two tough losses on Friday to finish the UCA Tournament with an even record after wins against Division I No. 6 Central Arkansas (1-7, 0-3 MAWC) and DII No. 24 Southwest Baptist (0-11) at HPER Center on Saturday. The win over Central Arkansas marked the first conference victory for the STUNT Bears in the program's history.

"I spoke with the team about the importance of these games," head coach Kennedy Wingbermuehle said. "It was great to see them show up and do their jobs. They seem hungry for more work and more wins."

Missouri State 8 - Central Arkansas 7

Missouri State came away with a scrappy win to open the day in a conference game against Central Arkansas. UCA took a 3-2 lead after partner stunts and maintained that lead heading into the half, with each team taking one point in pyramids and tosses. The game was ultimately decided in the third quarter with jumps and tumbling, where MoState has been strong throughout the tournament. The Bears shut out Central Arkansas in the frame and held off UCA in the team routine by going point-for-point to secure the one-point win.

The win marked Missouri State's first-ever victory against a Division I opponent and the first against a tournament host.

Missouri State 11 - Southwest Baptist 0 (8 Rounds)

The Bears played an expedited eight-round game against Southwest Baptist to close out its time in Conway with the program's first-ever sweep. Missouri State took every point in the fast-paced matchup. With the win, the Bears completed its first full-day sweep and won multiple games in a day for the first time in team history. Central Arkansas had defeated Southwest Baptist by the same score earlier in the day.
