STUNT Earns Runner-up at Mid America West Conference Tournament

MARTIN, Tenn. - Missouri State STUNT (16-14) beat UT Martin twice and lost to Kentucky twice en-route to earning second place at the Mid America West Conference Tournament hosted by UT Martin this weekend.

Senior Autumn Speckhart was awarded first-team all-conference honors while sophomore Kaybrie Sharp was awarded second-team honors.

"I'm very proud of this team, the levels they put on the floor, and how they carried themselves this weekend. As a second-year team, finishing conference runner-up is a huge accomplishment, and they have so much to be proud of," said head coach Kennedy Wingbermuehle.

The Bears will next compete at the 2026 College STUNT National Championships, April 23-26 in Nashville. Further information about seedings and schedules for the 2026 College STUNT National Championships will be released at a later date. The other Division I qualifiers in the double-elimination bracket are Cal Baptist, Kentucky, Cal Poly and Mercyhurst.

Game One

Missouri State 31, UT Martin 29
The Bears opened the weekend with a nail-biting win over hosts UT Martin. The Skyhawks raced out of the gates in the first quarter of partner student earning eight points to the Bears' four. The Skyhawks stayed ahead in the pyramids and tosses with both teams being awarded four points. In the third quarter of jumps and tumbling, the Bears fought back winning six points to the Skyhawks four. The Bears completed the comeback with a dominant fourth quarter in the team routines with 17 points earned to the Skyhawks' 13.

Game Two
Kentucky 35, Missouri State 12
The Wildcats hit the ground running with five points won in the partner stunts, to the Bears' one. The Bears tried to close the gap in the second quarter of pyramids and tosses, earning three points to the Wildcats' six. In the third quarter of jumps and tumbling, the Wildcats kept their lead, earning eight points to Missouri State's four. In the fourth quarter in the team routines, the Wildcats finished off a successful game with 16 points earned to the Bears' three.

Game Three
Missouri State 31, UT Martin 27
The Bears earned yet another victory over the Skyhawks. In the first quarter of partner stunts, the Bears earned seven points to the Skyhawks' four. In the pyramids and tosses, the Skyhawks fought back, winning six points to the Bears' four. In the jumps and tumbling the Bear's then earned five points in the in the jumps and tumbling to the Skyhawks' three. The Bears finished the game in style to qualify for the championship game by earning 15 points in the team routines to the Skyhawks' 14.

Game Four
Kentucky 27, Missouri State 6

The Wildcats were simply too good in the championship game, earning the title with another victory over the Bears. The Wildcats opened the first quarter of partner stunts earning four points to the Bears' one. In the pyramids and tosses, the Wildcats surged ahead, with four points being awarded without conceding any. In the third quarter, the Wildcats earned five points to the Bears' one. The Wildcats capped the finals in the team routines earning 14 points to three for the Bears.
