JONESBORO, Ark. – Missouri State yielded just four singles to Arkansas State Tuesday afternoon at Tomlinson Stadium, but three of those drove in runs and helped the Red Wolves to a 3-2 victory over the Bears on a day with winds consistently blowing in from center field at 20-plus miles per hour.

ASU (10-10) scored in the third, fifth and seventh innings, getting the leadoff man on in each, advancing the runner with a sacrifice bunt and scoring on a single.

The Bears (7-12) scored in the top of the third when Tyler Epstein hit a leadoff double and scored on Bonita Bonilla's first career hit.

The Red Wolves scored the next two runs and the Bears tied it at 2-2 in the sixth when Nick Rodriguez drove in Taeg Gollert with a single.

MoState stranded runners on second and third in the decisive seventh inning, with A-State scoring the go-ahead run after the Bears' missed opportunity.

Jason Schaaf gave the Bears a solid start, going 4.2 innings and allowing two runs on three hits in a no decision. Max Knight (1.1), Brody McNiel (0.2), Garrett Ferguson (0.1) and Gabe Smith (1.0) finished out the game on the mound, with McNiel taking the loss.

The Bears registered nine hits on the day, with Epstein logging the team's lone multi-hit day. Caden Bogenpohl's single in the seventh extended his on base streak to 32 consecutive games.

The Bears return home to begin Missouri Valley Conference play March 21-23 against Bradley. Game times are 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
