DALLAS - Missouri State STUNT concluded its first-ever tournament at Dallas Baptist University on Saturday. After being swept twice yesterday by Oklahoma Baptist and California Baptist, the Bears met the same fate with a morning matchup against the Texas Longhorns and a late-night bout against the Michigan State Spartans.
"Though we didn't get the results we were hoping for, the final score of our game against Michigan State does not reflect this team's growth from Friday's game to today," head coach
Kennedy Wingbermuehle said. "As a first-year team full of new athletes playing a brand new sport, the team made incredible strides. I am beyond excited to go through the rest of the season with this group. They are incredibly special and I am honored to coach Missouri State University's first team."
Texas 24 (2-1), Missouri State 0 (0-3)
The No. 8-ranked team in the Club Division took down the Bears via a sweep on Saturday morning at Burg Center. The win marked the Longhorns' second of the season and the tournament after defeating Arizona State, 20-9, on Friday. Texas ended the tournament 2-1 with a 21-4 loss to top Club team Oklahoma State.
Michigan State 24 (2-2), Missouri State 0 (0-4)
The Bears suffered an identical result to end the day against the No. 4-ranked Club Division Michigan State Spartans. After dropping their first two games on Friday against California Baptist and Oklahoma State, the Spartans clawed out a 19-6 victory over Arizona State and a shutout of the Bears to split the weekend.
