The Lady Bear Necessities
  • Missouri State women's basketball (5-0) heads to Tulsa (4-0) for a battle of unbeatens on Saturday afternoon (2:00 p.m.). Saturday's matchup will mark the 17th meeting between the Lady Bears and Golden Hurricane. MoState leads the series 9-7, but is just 1-5 on the road (last win in Tulsa was on 12/4/86).
  • Missouri State's roster features two players from the state of Oklahoma in Angel Scott (R-Sr., Edmond Okla.) and the hometown star Audrey Hopkins (Fr., Tulsa, Okla.). Hopkins was a four-year starter at Lincoln Christian School under former Lady Bear Melody (Campbell) Stewart and won a state title as a senior.
  • With a win over Georgia Southern on Tuesday night, the Lady Bears moved to 5-0 to mark the best start to a campaign since the 1997-98 club opened 12-0. MoState's current record is tied for the fourth-best start to a season in program history.
  • Kaemyn Bekemeier (Jr., Republic, Mo.) leads the way for the Lady Bears this season, averaging 16.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. She has led MoState in rebounds in all five games this season and ranks 13th nationally in defensive rebounds/game (8.4), 20th in rebounds (51) and 22nd in double-doubles (2) and free throws made (25).
  • As a team, Missouri State ranks inside the top 10 nationally in: three-point percentage defense (5th - .186), FTA per game (6th - 29.2) and FTM per game (7th - 20.2).
  • Dominant Defense - The Lady Bears have held their opponents to just 16-of-86 from beyond the arc this season, including stifling a Georgia Southern team that came into Tuesday's game averaging 9.0 3FG/game by limiting the Eagles to 3-for-32 (.094) from three. MoState is holding its opponents to just 58.2 points/game this season as four of its first five opponents have failed to meet the 60-point threshold.
  • In the Cunningham era, Missouri State is 48-5 when scoring 70+ points, 53-1 when holding opponents to 65 points or less and 41-0 when opponents score less than 60 points.
  • The 2025-26 Lady Bear squad features seven returners and seven newcomers in a new-look lineup that replaces all five of its starters from a year ago. MoState lost 69.2 percent of its scoring and 60.9 percent of its rebounding from last season.
  • The Lady Bears were picked to finish fourth in their first season as a member of Conference USA in the league's preseason poll. MoState slotted in behind Louisiana Tech, Liberty and Middle Tennessee. Little Rock transfer Lee was selected to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team. Lee was an All-OVC first-team member a season ago after averaging 14.2 points per game for the Trojans, and she averaged 19.7 points in three career games against Missouri State.
