Deuce Bailey - CUSA Freshman of the Week

Bailey Named CUSA Freshman of the Week

October 13, 2025

DALLAS -- Missouri State quarterback Deuce Bailey (Fr., Bowling Green, Ky.) has been named Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Starting for the injured Jacob Clark, Bailey's first starting appearance saw him lead the Bears on a 10-play, game-winning scoring drive late in the fourth quarter in last Wednesday's 22-20 win at Middle Tennessee.

Bailey also produced four consecutive scoring drives during a key stretch in the second and third quarters that elevated the Bears to leads at halftime and going into the fourth quarter. He finished the night 16-of-31 passing for 278 yards, no interceptions and a TD along with a five-yard rushing touchdown (the first of his career). His passing yardage marked the seventh-best by a Bears QB against an FBS foe in club history (47 FBS games) while he became just the third Missouri State freshman quarterback in the past 31 years (and first since 2016) to lead the Bears to victory in his debut start.

Other player of the week honorees in this week's CUSA announcement were: Cam Cook, Jax State (Offense), Tylon Dunlap, Kennesaw State (Defense), Garrison Rippa, Jax State (Special Teams), and J.T. Pennington, Kennesaw State (Offensive Line).

Missouri State (3-3) will have this week off before resume play next Wednesday (Oct. 22) at New Mexico State with an 8 p.m. (Central) start on CBS Sports Network.

The Bears return to Robert W. Plaster Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 29 to take on FIU for the first time. That game will be a 7 p.m. kickoff, also on CBS Sports Network, featuring Ag Day, a halftime drone show, $2 hot dogs and ticket specials announced throughout the week.
