Zhang Named CUSA Golfer of the Week

Missouri State's Jiayi "Coyee" Zhang is the second Missouri State golfer in the season's first three weeks to be named Conference USA Golfer of the Week. The junior from Shenzhen, China shot 74-72-74--220 to tie for fifth Tuesday (Sept. 30) at the Diane Thomason/Hawkeye Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa. Her honor this week comes after Bear freshman Chloe Bolte claimed the same recognition after the season-opening MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial earlier in the month.
Zhang birdied her final two holes in Monday's second round 72 to lift MSU into third place entering the final round before they eventually finished sixth in the 16-team tournament. She led the Bears in scoring average a year ago and is averaging 75.0 through the first three tournaments this season.
MoState is idle next week before returning to action Oct. 13-14 at the Red Wolves Classic in Jonesboro, Ark.
