The Ten Count
  • Missouri State begins the second half of the Valley schedule Wednesday when the Bears travel to Terre Haute for a 6 p.m. (Central) matchup at Indiana State. The defending MVC champion Sycamores squeaked past MoState on Dec. 7 in Springfield on a layup with 12 seconds remaining.

  • Of MSU's 10 Valley losses, 6 have been by 10 points or less including 2 in OT and 2 others by 3 points or less.
  • Zaxton King's 41 three-pointers this season ties him for 6th all-time among Missouri State freshman shooters, while his 211 points ranks 17th all-time among MSU freshmen.
  • Vincent Brady II (Jr., Indianapolis, Ind.) is averaging 12.9 points per game in road games this season. He ranks 15th overall in the MVC in scoring (13.4 ppg) and has scored in double figures in three of his last four Valley road games with a career-high 29 points at Bradley (1/4/25) and 24 points st Southern Illinois (1/11/25).
  • MoState ranks 68th nationally in 3-point FG percentage (.363) after going 11-for-22 at UNI on Tuesday. The Bears have shot 40 percent of better from 3-point range in three consecutive games.
  • Michael Osei-Bonsu (Jr., Bolingbrook, Ill.) is coming off his 4th double-double of the season with career-highs 24 points and 13 rebounds in Saturday's overtime loss to Drake. He ranks 1st in the MVC in offensive rebounds per game (3.14) and 2nd in the conference in total rebounds per game (7.4) and double-doubles (4).
  • The Bears matched their season-high with 11 3-pointers in their last two road games (at Illinois State and at UNI) before splashing home 8 triples against Drake at home on Saturday. With 157 treys on the season (74 on the road), the Bears are on pace to eclipse 200 threes for the eighth time in nine seasons.
  • Jalen Hampton (Jr., St. Louis, Mo.) needs 21 points for 500 in his career (53 games). He ranks 6th in the MVC in offensive rebounds per game (6.3), 8th in total rebounds per game (6.3) and 8th in defensive rebounds per contest (4.25).

The Series
  • The Bears lead the all-time series against Indiana State, 54-31, including a 33-8 ledger in Springfield (13-5 at GSB Arena), 17-21 record in Terre Haute, and 4-2 at neutral sites. Despite ISU's three-game sweep last season, MoState has won 14 of the last 20 meetings and 7 of the last 12.
  • Earlier this season in Springfield (12/7/24), Dez White scored a career-high 30 points for the Bears, but visiting Indiana State got a clutch layup from Jaden Daughtry with 12 seconds left in the game to push the visitors to an 80-77 victory here Saturday in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both clubs. Later, in the quarterfinals of Arch Madness (3/8/24), MSU got 18 points from Donovan Clay and another double-double from Benson, but top-seeded Indiana State used a solid second-half effort to end the Bears' season, 75-59. The Bears trailed 34-31 at the half, but the Sycamores shot 50 percent in the second half to lead by as many as 18 down the stretch. MSU held its own deep into the final half with Benson's dunk with 11:47 to go drawing the Bears within 54-48.

Coach Cuonzo Martin
  • After an extensive national search, Missouri State University announced Cuonzo Martin as its men's basketball head coach on March 27, 2024. The man who orchestrated Missouri State's only MVC regular-season championship run during his first tenure in Springfield originally coached at Missouri State from 2008 to 2011.
  • Martin begins his second tenure at MoState with a 271-212 (.561) career record in 15 seasons as a Division I head coach with experience at MSU, Tennessee, California and Missouri. His teams have made nine postseason appearances in that span, including four trips to the NCAA Tournament, four appearances in the NIT, and a CIT title with the Bears in 2010.
  • Coach Martin is also 68-55 (.553) in his fourth season (and second stint) at Missouri State University. Martin is 2-5 vs. Indiana State in his career (all at MSU).
  • In Martin's first stint in Springfield (2008-11), he was named Missouri State's 16th head coach in time for the program's 100th anniversary season and its inaugural campaign at Great Southern Bank Arena. In his second season (2009-10), Martin guided MoState to a 24-12 overall ledger, a 19-2 home record, and an impressive run to the CIT Postseason Tournament title.
  • His third season at MSU (2010-11) was one of the program's most memorable, as the Bears finished 26-9 overall on the way to the program's first-ever MVC regular-season title with a 15-3 league record. The Bears fell to Indiana State in the finals of the MVC Tournament in St. Louis and capped an unforgettable campaign by advancing to the second round of the NIT. Martin was named 2011 MVC Coach of the Year and recipient of the Ben Jobe Award as the nation's top minority head coach. Over Martin's last two years at MoState, the Bears were 35-3 at home and did not lose a non-conference home game.
  • Martin has made three head coaching stops since leaving Springfield with stints at Tennessee (2011-14), California (2014-17) and Missouri (2017-22).
