Cross Checking the Bears

The Missouri State cross-country team will open the 2024 at the Redhawks Invitational on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:10 p.m.
SEMO will play host to 10 schools from three different divisions. SEMO, SIUE and Lindenwood make up a portion of the Division I schools with fellow Missouri Valley Conference members SIU and Murray State filling out the DI lineup.
At last season's MVC championship, the Bears were able to outrun both SIU and Murray State. MoState finished fifth with 142 points while SIU finished sixth with 155 points and Murray State finished tenth with 273 points.
Missouri State was picked to finish fifth in the 2024 MVC Preseason Poll.
The Bears return 15 runners and welcome seven newcomers: five freshman and two transfers.
Five runners with top-five meet finishes in 2023 continue their careers as Bears. Mary Margaret Harris finished in the top-five at every meet last season. Emily Nuttal recorded five scoring finishes, Madilyn Moore had three and Ella Cronhardt and Grace Spoonhour had two each.
Head coach Jordan Fife enters his 11^th year at the head of the cross-country program.
